I graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1994. I am currently working on my Master's Degree from Emporia State University. I taught in a little town at the elementary level for 11 years. I now teach at Grant Junior High and enjoy the students daily! My husband, daughter, son and I live on a ranch south of town.
Here I am enjoying my summer! One of the things I get to do is dedicate some time learning new things. This blog is one of them! What is your favorite thing to learn in the summer?
Summer time is my time to reconnect with my kids. We are all so busy running around during the school year that we sometimes lose track of each other. I'm learning to enjoy the little things, celebrate each day and be a kid again. I love summer!
Right now I'm experimenting with the blog as well. This will be fun! I know from talking to some of my students, they will talk more online than in person. We should all have fun!
This summer I want to get some things done that I have been meaning to do ever since Gordon's death. There are so many things in the garage that I need to familiarize myself with and then organize. (The garage was pretty much Gordon's for his to use to do his thing!!)
I am learning about a new PDC system we will be using this next school year. It may not be one of my favorite things to learn, but it is one new thing I am learning this summer. Can't wait to tell you all about it this Fall!!! :o)
Well, I did go to Mount Rushmore this last weekend. It was a lot of fun and educational. I am also trying to become more educated about motherhood and what I need to do during pregnancy. I am also working on my ESL certification. I hope to have a little bit of free time to read a book for enjoyment.
I enjoy breaking out the sewing machine each summer. I will need to sew some new curtains and possibly figure out how to make some nice dress pants for next year. Now that I'm not living near my mom, I'll have to figure out how to do the hard stuff like sewing on zippers.
Most of my summers are spent revisiting my garden books. It's always a challenge to see if I can keep all my garden/yard stuff alive-mulch, mulch and more mulch- and water! This wind really sucked out the moisture today. Each year it's a big surprise if I can actually get some tomatoes . . . we will see I guess.
I have a passion to dabble in the beauty of the earth. I love gardening and everything outside including painting. Summer seems to be the only time I have to put a new look on old things.
I love Aimee's comment. In Daniel Pinks book "A Whole New Mind", he believes in educating the whole mind in what he calls the six senses.

This summer I really want to learn to take better pictures. I am considering purchasing a new lens for my camera. We'll see what happens.
I am just anxious to learn how to relax this summer. The year was really hectic.
Anything to do with technology that I can apply in the fall. However, I really need to learn how to relax and do nothing!
My son and I just recently purchased new dirt bikes and our goal this summer is to become safe riders and go trail riding up in the mountains.

Learn to blog, and spend time with family and friends.

Design. Story. Symphony. Empathy. Play. Meaning.
I need to work on play!
I want to learn a new software program called Photoshop Elements - it is a bit intimidating for me!
